Life is better when you make space for what you love

When you make space for what you love, life becomes sweeter, lighter and better. In this video, I share ways in which I romanticise my summer, with a very small budget. I share about elderflower picking, spending time in nature, sewing, cooking, and gardening, and about the importance of romanticising little moments as a way to enjoy the present moment. About me: I’m Alexandra and I live in Oxf...
A *REALISTIC* Day in My Life as A WORKING MOM.

As a working mom, here's how I balance, work, motherhood, and hobbies. This is a very realistic portrayal of my day. I didn't plan it, I didn't script it, I just pressed record, and captured that day as accurately as possible. Often times we see perfect days of perfect people who have perfect lives and that can leave us to think that our lives are a mess. But I wanted to show the realities of b...

7 Days of Creativity: Balancing Motherhood & Passion Projects

Sunday evening last week I challenged myself to create something each day for a week. Seven days of creativity as a way to live out my dream life of creating beautiful things and spending time with my hobbies. As a working mom, I don't always get the time to spend it doing creative activities such as painting and sewing and baking, but I wanted this week to be different. I wanted to be able to ...

In this video I share some moments from the past month, as I have tried to craft, and b...

A visual testament about life moving on and storms running out of water. My little heart felt compelled this week to make a video about hard times. I wanted to encourage you based on what I've learnt from the hardest year of my life. I am so inspired. Like you I made my first (in my case only) quilt for my then unborn baby. It is a small one. I used it for him in his bassinet and then to shade him in his capsule in the car. I did not hand stitch it and I used a ribbon to bind it, not perfect but it has lasted for over 30 years so far. I want to do make another quilt now, hand stitching as you have done. ❤

    Love your videos! Such great points about social media, I think I conquered instagram in a similar way, I now just look with a web browser when I want to look at something specific and it’s far less addictive than the app. But, now I seem to have replaced the scrolling/zone out urge with YT shorts which is probably more addictive, need to take action against that for sure, as when I watch such wholesome valuable content as yours it’s clearly superior. Thanks for another great video ❤

      Yes, I always feel so heavy after junk food. It’s so great and enjoyable in the moment, but once it’s landed, it’s suffering. McDonald’s always gives me a tummy ache! Good food doesn’t do that. I struggled with staying away from instagram, I deleted my account but I was missing out on stuff I didn't want to miss out. What helped me a lot was to identify how I felt every time I had the urge to scroll for hours and addressed those emotions instead. Also setting a time limit each day is helpful. Love your videos! ❤❤

    • @AlexandraBurnett
      @AlexandraBurnett 17 днів тому

      I love being back on social, I feel like I can stay connected more with some of my friends on there and just current fashion and food things. And now that I know it’s a bit of a problem if I scroll too much, it helps me have a healthier relationship with it. Sometimes deleting it isn’t the answer, but getting to the root of it like you said can help identify bigger things 🩷

    Yes! Movement as "medicine". I take mine every day. I always feel better after. Never once have I said to mysel "I wish I hadn't done that exercise." As far as Instagram scrolling, it's exactly as you described, deeply addictive and you can feel like a zombie. Per your advice, I am going to go thru my list of the subscribes and delete the ones that I am not completely passionate about. And thank you for the cooking tips! 🧑‍🍳

    • @AlexandraBurnett
      @AlexandraBurnett 17 днів тому

      Yes!!! I have never regretted any type of movement. In many ways we were born to move, to be in nature, to be active. Being selective with who you follow / engage with on social media is probably the best way to interact with social media. It’s a way to control what you ingest and that’s important. X

      Ah thank you for joining me on this little channel. Means a lot, I have never had a problem with UA-cam it’s mainly Instagram that I struggled with. But I did find that when I deleted Insta I jumped on UA-cam shorts and that got addictive quickly so had to stop. At the moment I have about a handful of channels that I follow religiously so I tune in to those as they inspire me on my journey and in my creativity and then that’s it. 🩷 But I think it’s al meant to be addictive so gotta be cautious with how much time we spend!

    • @AlexandraBurnett
      @AlexandraBurnett 17 днів тому

      I found the best way to break my social media addiction is to say no to it for at least 30 days. Cold turkey. The first few days it’s going to be hard. But the clarity of mind you get after and sense of freedom is incredible. Once you feel you’re more in control, you can go back on your own terms with stronger boundaries in place, such as time limits etc! Hope this helps! 🩷

      Yes, I also feel the same. I made a simple pair of elasticated trousers, and it was a slow project, but I've worn it so many time already!!

      Thank you so much! When we moved out London, this is what we moved for, more green space, a slower pace, and it's truly lovely! I have some many plans for the garden, but my dreams are always slightly bigger than my budget haha! X

    My son is an avid gardener and I have watched as over the last few years he has developed his skills so much by trying different things out and learning as he has gone along I’ve found myself learning along side home. When is the best time time to pick the raspberries, when are potatoes ready to harvest, morning the loss of our first fig tree but having another go and watching a new tree grow. Even now when you look at your adult child, it’s an opportunity to give thanks for another bonding moment. Thank you for beautiful blog. PS I have to look into elderberry mocktails!

      What a beautiful message! I love that! It's true, you learn by doing! My daughter and I bond over our gardening, we go and check in on our plants in the morning, she helps me water them, and she goes and picks herbs if I'm cooking and ask her too! It's such a beautiful thing to do! Love that! XX
